2007 Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling
Like many 2007 Clare rieslings, this might not have the subtlety of a cooler year, but it has plenty of flavour and richness, with a soft, open bouquet and a rich, generous palate. It could take some age well.

Mount Horrocks Riesling 2007
One of my all time favourite rieslings and this ’07 is a real charmer. An early vintage hasn’t stopped the wine from displaying delicate floral and lime notes, zesty but soft with gentle acidity, and plenty of balance and poise. Love it immensely.

Mount Horrocks 2007 Watervale Riesling
Consistently, one of the best of Clare’s rieslings: this has a hint of talc on the nose, intense, pure lime juice, tight structure, yet is generously flavoured, finishing with taut, zesty acidity that is long and dry.

Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling 2007
Fresh and full of limes, spice and mineral notes, this finishes with firm acidity and is finely balanced. One of the subdistrict’s young Rieslings with a future.

UNCORKED
Mount Horrocks Riesling 2007
Stephanie Toole’s Clare Valley Riesling is one of the region’s best. It’s a green-tinged wine with a perfect regional-varietal nose. Subdued floral notes add a pretty touch to more “serious” steely, lime zesty and appley aromas. It’s rich and long in the mouth with a zesty, fine-boned finish. Don’t hurry to drink it, as age should build lovely complexity.
Ageing? Yes, two to eight years
Food ideas: Stir-fried crab; whiting.
