2008 Mount Horrocks Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wrap yourself in the velvet cloak that is this stunning contemporary Australian cabernet.  Characteristic deep purple with an indigo halo.

Inviting aromas of voluptuous dark berries seasoned with spicy oak.  Lashings of cabernet’s classic blackcurrant, raspberry, plum and mint are swathed in a thick but smooth blanket of bright tannin and integrated oak.

Incredibly elegant for what is a hearty red whose archetypical line and length confirm a healthy cellaring potential.

A real keeper – now to twelve years.

2007 Mount Horrocks Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The Mount Horrocks Cabernet Sauvignon was hand crafted from cabernet sauvignon (90%) and merlot (10%) fruit grown in the Clare Valley from low yielding unirrigated vines.

Eye-catching deep crimson red with purple hues.

Be welcomed by a scent of concentrated dark berry fruits, floral notes and seductively spicy oak. Then be led to flavours of juicy blackcurrant and raspberry forest fruits, dark plum and savoury mint all rolled up in crisp-sheets of bright tannin and lashings of stylish oak.

It is a solidly structured, stylish cabernet that exhibits firmer than usual tannin grip from the shorter ripening period of vintage 2007. This is not a bad thing, though, as this grainy, claret-like structure adds liveliness and appeal to this always delicious wine. Textured and long, this Cabernet drinks beautifully now, with char grilled meats, yet will age brilliantly for as least a decade. Delightful.
