Mount Horrocks 2009 Cordon Cut Riesling

Different to the marmalade-like semillons from the Riverina, where intense sweetness comes from botrytised grapes. Here winemaker Stephanie Toole cuts the canes when the fruit ripens, a risky process which allows the grapes to raisin on the vine. Not quite as toffee-sweet as botrytised whites but with more elegance and finesse.
