2015 Mount Horrocks Cabernet Sauvigonon
94 Points
Clare Valley cabernet sauvignon rules/rides again.
This is the best red in the Mount Horrocks range this year; again. It has that extra lick of tannin, that extra push through the finish. There are some reductive characters here, in a good way, which help to bolster the medium-weight flow of curranty fruit. Both silken-texture and a general sturdiness are key positive traits. It isn’t ‘big’ by any stretch. It’s a kind of Claret/luncheon style of cabernet, composed and at one with itself, and should mature beautifully.
