Mount Horrocks Alexander Vineyard Shiraz 2018

290 cases produced

The Alexander Vineyard is ideally situated for high quality, low yielding, certified organic grapes. Stephanie takes a very European approach to making this wine. One-quarter of the fruit is whole-bunch foot crushed, giving a fresh, perfumed and less tannic component. The remainder is more traditionally managed, crushed and fermented for more palate weight and extract. Both components then spend 18 months in French oak barriques. Expressive and beautifully poised, this release is half our ‘normal’ production.

Tasting Notes

Vibrant cherry red.

Dark-fruited with fragrant almost floral oak aromas. Very alluring.

Youthful, lively red and black fruits, mandatory shiraz spice in the toasted mixed spice arena, plush tannins and a long, appealing finish. Modern Australian shiraz that drinks beautifully right now, with barbequed lamb, and will age well for 12 or more years.
