By Nick Ryan

…In Clare, semillon grows in the large shadow cast by riesling. I recently gathered a small group winemakers still producing semillon in the Clare Valley to taste a bunch of wines going ...

Mount Horrocks Nero d’Aovla 2017
This meduim-bodied wine is the 6th release. Hand-picked and open-fermented, matured in French barriques (20% new) for 12 months. It is fresh and bright; red fruits and fine, savoury tannins equally matched; juicy acidity the umpire signalling victory for the nero.
Wine writer Tyson Stelzer has announced his Top Australian Wines for 2018 and both Mount Horrocks Riesling and Cordon Cut made the list.
“Top Nine Australian White Wines Under $100 for 2018”

2016 Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling
By Mike Bennie
Scintillating, pure, vibrant Riesling. An epee thrust of citrus, green apple, crushed slate-like minerality. It’s got so much energy, feels so pent up, tight, squeaky, impressively long. It’s for drinking now with vigour, or lazing over after a couple of decades in the cellar.
