2013 Mount Horrocks Nero d’ Avola
Bright cherry red.
Juicy, perfumed, lightly floral nose: heady.
Generous forest fruits, prune and a hint of spice, the taste is rounded, with nero’s trademark fresh acidity and smooth tannins. Tantalisingly drinkable, especially enjoyable at midway between refrigerator and ambient room temperature, with tomato-based dishes, now to 6 years.
A very appealing modern take on classic Italian varietal.
